We’re looking for interns for the upcoming summer season as we ramp up for what promises to be our most exciting fall season yet. We would like you to be involved in as many of the duties of managing a theater production company as you would like to take on. This experience will be unlike any other internship you’re currently applying to as we individually craft your experience to your interests and passion.

We are looking for hardworking, motivated, organized individuals that do see a future in the field. You’ll start to eschew plans and embrace experiments.

  • Working closely with the Artistic Director on productions.

  • Handling contracts, budgets, and union correspondence.

  • Managing ticketing, purchasing event hosting supplies and concessions, and sales.

  • Working with our Press Relations and Marketing Director on advertising and

  • Maintaining a calendar of events, deadlines and obligatory tasks.

  • You will be observing and getting feedback from advisory and board members, as well as other company members, as they handle these and other responsibilities. It is very important that you as a candidate are committed, a self-starter, and can work with others and on your own. Please, feel free to ask as many questions as you may have and get involved. This internship is unpaid, but is an opportunity for you to learn as much as you can and you will get as much out of the experience as you are able to put into it.

  • You may also like being part of our bi-weekly, invitation-only play reading, called the Nylon Salon. There, among other things, we select the works we will include in our quarterly short-play festival, our public readings, and our full-scale productions. We get over a hundred submissions for each festival, and have already received as many for our other open submission callings, which includes our full-length political play series. We hope you can help us with selecting what we will read at our Salons and you can even take part in company discussions!

  • You are interested in theater administration. It is a role that requires dedication and attention to detail, and the flexibility to deal with the unexpected situations that inevitably pop up in live theater. So it is important for you keep a sense of humor, a level head, and the passion for theater that brought you here in the first place. Thank you!

Interested? We hope so! Please email your cover letter (and resume) to nylonsubmissions@gmail.com. We’ll reach out if we want to setup a time to chat.
